Problem:
This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering, and has been addressed in
Notes 6.5.3 Client.
Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.3 MR fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/):
Client UI
SPR# RHAN5YANC7 - Fixed a shared memory problem on the Macintosh platform with
users assigned high UIDs.
The only workaorund is to restart the computer if Notes must be closed and
relaunched, or to use a number lower than 10000 for the UID.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. While logged in as an admin user, go to the System Preferences: Accounts
and create a user named "test".
2. Select Open, Applications, Utilities, NetInfo Manager and Navigate to
/users/test. Click the lock in the lower left-hand to authenticate.
3. Change both the uid and gid to 100000 (it was 502 to start with).
4. Exit NetInfo Manager, save the changes, and update when prompted.
5. Select Open -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal, and type the
following (without quotes), and press ENTER, entering your password when
prompted:
"sudo chown -R test /Users/test" ( this makes sure the user test still owns
all of its files in its home directory)
6. Login as the user "test".
7. Launch Notes. Note that there is no problem the first time, but when you
close Notes and relaunch it, the client will crash. If you restart the
computer, you have no issue launching Notes the first time, but will crash
again if launched a second time. You should be able to launch it again, if you
quit it and try again, it will crash on launch and you will need to restart.
